Englewood Cliffs Sessions - Rob Mostert recorded by Rudy van Gelder
Whenever a new Dutch organ jazz album is to be released I am excited. If the album is recorded by Rudy van Gelder I am upset in a pleasant manner. As far as I know, the first album recorded by Rudy van Gelder with a Dutch organist behind the console is to be released very soon. The CD release party will be held on Tuesdag September 20, 2011 in club Panama Amsterdam. Flying to America to record an Album with Rudy van Gelder is one thing and something to be jealous about. But how would you feel if Rudy van Gelder self would slides this feather up your ass: "This session was unusual: the musicians came from the Netherlands, but the music comes from here, from the Blue Note tradition that I helped create in my studio, recording organ trios for Alfred Lion. It's very gratifying to know that the work I did in the USA, in Hackensack and Englewood Cliffs, is heard and appreciated in the Netherlands. Rob Mostert and his Dutch Organ Group added their own elements to the music and the results are fresh and exciting. Personally, we were very compatible. It was particularly pleasant that they came from a place near where my father was born. I felt a connection with them, and with the music they played. The session was very relaxed and I believe that can be heard in the music. Rudy Van Gelder Van Gelder Recording Studio, Inc.". Back0 comments., write a comment |
